Welcome to Water’s Edge where island flavour and good vibes are always on the menu!

 

Our story began in 1967, when the late Robert Bernard Douglas opened the Douglas Snackette in Borough’s Square. For 50 years, it was a beloved part of Portsmouth life – a place where the food was tasty, the service was familiar, and everyone felt like family. Run by his children and loyal long serving team, it became a true community hub on Bay Street.

 

In the wake of Hurricane Maria in 2017, our family saw an opportunity to reimagine that legacy. And so, Water’s Edge was born, a fresh take on a local classic, keeping the warmth and spirit of the Snackette while bringing a new energy to the heart of Portsmouth, Dominica. With colourful plates, laid-back settings, and the same sense of welcome we’ve always had, we’ve created a space where everyone feels right at home.
